Event Description:

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation is pleased to host our 8th annual Art on the Mountain. Local and visiting artisans bring a great variety of their work to display and sell in Gondola Square at the Steamboat Ski Area from 10am to 4pm. Art on the Mountain is an opportunity for our guests to observe the exceptional artwork available in our Yampa Valley.

  • July 3-5, 2009 - Independence Day Weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)


Set up for each event is between 7:30am to 9:30am.

Teardown is the last scheduled day between 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Directions:

  • From Rabbit Ears Pass: Travel North on US 40 to Mount Werner exit (4.5 miles), turn right onto Mount Werner Road. Follow Mt Werner Road and continue around to the Transportation Center.

  • From downtown Steamboat Springs: Travel South on US 40 and the exit is approx 3 miles, turn left onto Mt. Werner Road. Follow Mt Werner Road and continue around to the Transportation Center.

  • On the right just past the bus terminals is the Gondola Square Parking Structure, please park here. If you vehicle exceeds the height limit there is parking at the Knoll Parking Lot on Mt. Werner Circle.

  • Below the flag poles in the transportation center there will be check-in for Art on the Mountain. Look for the representative with the Steamboat t-shirt and name tag. Check-in will start at 7:30am.
    Mountain Art
    Eligibility:

    All artists must be juried and accepted. Participation is limited to 25 exhibitors. All work submitted must be original in concept, design, and execution. Work displayed at the festival must be of the same type, quality, and materials as depicted in the pictures/sides submitted for jurying. No imported, manufactured, or mass produced goods, including commercially produced work, are acceptable. Exhibitors must display their own work and be present at the festival.

    Exhibitor Fees:

    $85 per show for 10x10 tent space. Checks payable to Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation All fees due (3) weeks prior to event:
    • July 3-5 event deadline for entry is June 12, 2009

    The booth fee is non-refundable after the respected refund deadline listed above. A limited number of double booth spaces, 10’ x 20’, are available for a double booth fee. No application will be considered without booth fee check.
    The booth fee check will be held until jurying is finalized, and check will be returned if application is not accepted.
    Vendor space assignments will be determined on a first come first service basis. Previous participants will be given priority, and booth spaces will be assigned two weeks prior to the event. Vendors will receive notification of their assigned booth space(s) via e-mail, mail or a phone call.

    Event Sales Tax License:

    Since Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation is the event organizer for Art on the Mountain, we must advise all participants that it is mandatory they have a City of Steamboat Springs sales tax license and a valid State of Colorado sales tax license. Copies of both sales tax licenses must be submitted and received in our offices three weeks prior to the event. If you do not presently have a city sales tax license, enclosed is a copy of a Single Event Sales Tax License application and instructions for completing it.     Artist Rules:

    1. An SSRC representative will be on site to allow access to Gondola Square and the Grand Walkway for set up.
    2. Vehicles are NOT allowed in Gondola Square. If your set up requires vehicle access then you will be given a booth on the Grand Walkway. Vehicles will only be allowed on the Grand Walkway for set up from 7:30-9:30am and for teardown between 4-6pm.
    3. Don't forget about sales tax licenses.
    4. Overnight security will be available
    5. Weather changes quickly; be prepared for adverse weather.
    6. Don't forget sunscreen and drink plenty of liquids.
    7. Set-up Requirements:
    • All vendors must have a canopy, tent or a professional covering for their 10x10 vendor space.
    • Tents must be staked or weighted down; no exceptions.
    • All vendors may purchase either one or two spaces, as space allows, at any of the events. If the vendor needs additional space, arrangements must be made in advance.
    • SSRC does not offer help in set up or break down.
    • Bring your own table and cahirs; no vehicles will be able to park close to any vendor sites. It is your responsibility to be ready for the entire day at the beginning of the event.
    • Vendors are accepted only after our offices have received full payment of booth space. Payment of booth space is due approximately 3 weeks prior to each event to allow for additional information to be sent regarding the event.
    • Power is available, but on a limited basis; please inform in advance if 110 or 120 volts is required.
    • Garbage cans are on premises - please keep your area neat and free of trash and litter.
    • All events are held rain or shine.
