KBCR will be course-side, broadcasting live throughout the event - Eligibility:
- Any PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) or PBR (Professional Bull Riders) members entered at the Denver Stock Show rodeo or by special invitation. Lists (PRCA & PBR) of all cowboys entered at Denver, the current top 40 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) members, select rodeo legends, and current PRCA World Champions will be eligible to register for the event.
- Entry Cost:
- $125 - Entry includes two nights lodging at The Lodge at Steamboat (Monday, January 18, 2010 and Tuesday, January 19, 2010 only), a two-day adult lift ticket, a two-day sport ski or snowboard rental package, entry into the Cowboy Downhill race, a special edition Bud Light Cowboy Downhill winter jacket and one (1) ticket to the Awards Banquet.
- Registration:
- Registration on Monday, January 18, 2010, will be at Registration Headquarters – The Clubhouse at The Lodge at Steamboat –27000 Village Drive from 9:00am - 9:00pm. Registration on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, the day of the race, will be at The Loft, Ski Area Base - Gondola Square, from 8:30am – 11:30am. Bibs will be distributed Tuesday morning at The Loft.
- VIP List/Comps:
- A select list of rodeo legends, VIPs, media, and sponsors will be available Monday morning at Registration Headquarters – The Clubhouse at The Lodge at Steamboat. These people will be entitled to two nights complimentary lodging at The Lodge at Steamboat (Jan. 18 & Jan. 19 only), a two-day lift ticket, a two-day rental package, Awards Banquet tickets for themselves and one guest and entry into the race (VIP cowboys only to enter the race, no sponsors or media). Specially priced lift tickets will be available for additional VIP guests (one guest is complementary) at $50 per adult per day.
- Lift Tickets:
- Every cowboy entering the event will receive two days of skiing available for either Monday and Tuesday, January 18-19, or Tuesday and Wednesday, January 19-20. Those wishing to start skiing on Monday must go to Registration Headquarters - The Clubhouse at The Lodge at Steamboat and register for the event, to receive a two-day ticket for Monday and Tuesday, January 18-19. Cowboys need to be on the National Western Stock Show PRCA Rodeo entry list to receive their lift ticket. Those starting to ski on Tuesday should go to The Loft in Gondola Square to register and pick up their lift tickets.
Specially priced lift tickets for Cowboy’s guests and kids, or for Cowboys to ski a third day will be available at registration. Adult tickets will be $50 per day and cost for children ages 6-12 is $37 per day. Children ages 5 and under ski free. - Ski Rentals:
- Ski rentals ("sport" package - skis, boots, poles) and snowboard rentals (boots and board) will be available for participants and VIP's at Steamboat Ski & Sport-Gondola Square. Cowboys and VIP’s will receive a ski rental voucher at registration, which can then be presented at the Steamboat Ski & Sport -Gondola Square to obtain rental equipment.
- Lodging:
- Lodging is available for Cowboy Downhill participants through Steamboat Resorts for the nights of Monday, January 18 and Tuesday, January 19, 2009 ONLY. Cowboys and VIPs will be charged the following rates for additional nights: $145/night for 1 bedroom and $199/night for a 2 bedroom unit plus applicable taxes. All lodging check-in is at Registration Headquarters – The Clubhouse at The Lodge at Steamboat. Participants must identify themselves at the time of check-in as being with the Cowboy Downhill event. Cowboys are allowed one (1) guest for lodging. Any additional guests will be charged $40 per night, per person. A credit card imprint for incidentals is required upon check-in.
- Pre-Race Cowboy Lunch:
- On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, lunch will be provided for the cowboys entered in the race. Lunch will be available from 11:00am – 12:00pm at the Cowboy VIP tent on the Bear River Bar & Grill deck.
- Race Format:
- Race format is the same as in years past. Cowboys will ski down a dual slalom course, go over a jump, lasso a Steamboat Ambassador, saddle a horse, and cross the finish line. This is the Timed Event. We will also have the Stampede Event, which is a mass start; first one to the bottom wins. This race immediately follows the Timed Event.
All participants must wear chaps and cowboy hats. - Public Festivities:
- Festivities for this year’s 36th Annual Bud Light Cowboy Downhill include an afternoon western celebration in Gondola Square featuring: Community Ag Alliance, 4H farm animals; food and refreshments at The Bear River Bar & Grill; a learn-to-rope clinic; and commemorative Bud Light Cowboy Downhill logo wear and souvenirs. After the races, ProRodeo cowboys will be on hand signing autographs at the Bear River Bar & Grill Deck.
- Awards Banquet:
- The Awards Banquet will be held in Thunderhead at the top of the Gondola. Cocktails are from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, complimentary Bud and Budlight or cash bar, with dinner served at 7:00 pm, and the awards presentation at 8:00 pm. Banquet tickets for Cowboy Downhill participants are included as part of their entry. Specially priced banquet tickets for Cowboys' guests will be available at registration. Adults will be $35 (13+), children (ages 6-12 yrs.) will be $15 and kids 5 yrs. and under are free. The Banquet is NOT open to the public.
- Child Care:
- The Kids’ Vacation Center, skiing and childcare and the Kids Adventure Club at Night are resources for Cowboys with families, call 1-800-299-5017 or 1-970-871-5375 for reservations and information. Standard prices apply
- Prizes:
- There will be awards for both the Timed Event and the Stampede. First place winners in each event will receive space available, round trip, domestic airline tickets for two. There will be lots of other awards for the top ten finishers in the Timed Event.
