Steamboat Straight Talk Snow Report: 11/11/08
The next epic season is almost upon us. As if anyone could forget, last year we had 489 inches of the soft, fluffy stuff fall at the resort, and this winter we're hoping history will have a way of repeating itself.
So far we're off to a good start. Storms started moving through Northwest Colorado last week, first dropping 10 inches. Then smaller storms since then have added 3 or 4 inches per day leaving us with a solid 21.75 inches so far. The forecast is calling for continued snowfall possible through the week.
In addition to the snowfall, cold temperatures have allowed our snowmaking crews to crank up the guns and begin building a base for Opening Day, November 26th. Daytime temps are warmer than ideal for snowmaking, but a cold front is expected later this week and we'll take maximum advantage of the cold temps and continue to work on covering more terrain.
Opening Day is right around the corner, are you ready? Check out steamboat.com and find out about great early season deals and discounts including our new Ski FREE program. Book 3 nights lodging through Steamboat Central Reservations and you'll get your lift tickets for FREE! (some restrictions apply).
Keep doing your snow dance and we'll see you out on the mountain this winter!
