Horseback Riding

Saddleback Ranch

Summer Horseback Dinner Rides and Wagon Dinner Rides are now closed for the season.

Enjoy views of the Flattops, Sleeping Giant and Mt Werner on horseback! The first cattle were brought to Routt County in 1871 to utilize summer pastures. The Iacovetto family has passed our agriculture heritage through five generations.

Spend the day with us as we move cattle, check their health, bring in strays and make sure that everything on the ranch is running smoothly. Our Cattle Drive rides are unique as they are not "nose to tail" trail rides and no part of the day is "staged" so daily tasks vary. The horse riding pace on a Cattle Drive is usually slow, allowing for time to gain appreciation for the animals and make a four legged friend or two. We have horses for all riding abilities on all our riding activities.

On our dinner ride enjoy a 30-minute horseback ride to to our Double Dollar Lodge. After dinner take part in a calf roping instruction, ending the evening with a breathtaking Colorado sunset ride home.

Driving Directions

Take Hwy 40 (Lincoln Avenue) west 10 miles towards Milner, turn left at mile marker 122 onto RCR 179, stay on RCR 179 for approx 3 miles (25 minute drive). The ranch is on the left side of the road. Follow the signs.

Guests must call the Saddleback Ranch to confirm ride time, riding abilities and menu choices. Please call at least 24 hours in advance.

The Cattle Drive and Two Hour Rides are offered Monday - Saturday; Dinner Rides are offered Mondays and Wednesdays. All rides take place June 1 - September 20, 2015.

Dinner Menu

For the dinner ride, the dinner menu choices are baked garlic salmon, teriyaki chicken, or marinated and grilled pork tenderloin. Childrens menu contains Hot Dog or Hamburger (children may also order from the adult menu). Entrees served with cowboy baked beans, ranch style potato, garlic vinaigrette salad, warm bread, and chef's choice for dessert. Iced tea and lemonade to drink. We have a wide selection of wines and several choices of domestic and microbrewed bottled beers are available for purchase.
