Take a Hike (For the connoisseur)

Friday, August 8

Start Times: 9:00am - 1:00pm

  • Location: Four Points Lodge

Hit the trails for this informative and invigorating hike, offering gorgeous views of Mt. Werner and the Yampa Valley. Guided by Steamboat Ambassadors, the hike begins with a ride up the Gondola and follows the Chisholm Trail to Four Points Lodge. After the hike, enjoy a delicious lunch and wine tasting with Chris Rowe of Old Bridge Cellars, taking in the scenery from the deck of the New Four Points Lodge – a picture perfect ending. The lovely cuisine will be complemented with highly rated wines from around the world.

Geared for the advance level, this hike is approximately 3-4 miles long. Please allow up to 3-4 hours for the hike and lunch. Hikers will meet at the Information Center in Gondola Square at 8:30am, and then it’s time to hit the trails.

Lace up your Merrell hiking boots and hit the trails for this energizing and enjoyable trek, offering gorgeous views of Mt. Werner and the Yampa Valley. Guided by Steamboat Ambassadors, this hike begins with a ride up the Gondola and follows the Vista Nature Trail. Take in the scenery as you learn about one of the most beautiful trails in Steamboat Springs. Following the hike, enjoy a delicious lunch and a sampling of craft brews from local Storm Peak Brewery, all while taking in the wonderful views from the upper deck of the Thunderhead Lodge – a picture perfect ending.

Geared for the beginner level, this hike is approximately 1 mile long. Please allow up to 3 hours for the hike and lunch. Hikers will meet at the Information Center in Gondola Square at 9:30am, and then it’s time to hit the trails.

The Beast or the Bottle?

In this NEW seminar, join Master Sommeliers Sean Razee and Damon Ornowski as they deconstruct the composition of food and wine pairings and flip the system on you. Selecting the wines first, they will show you just how incredible a pairing can be when the wine is chosen first. The extraordinary culinary team at Bistro C.V. with Executive Chef Brian Vaughn and Bob Blair of Fuel Cafe will take to the challenge of creating impeccable small plates to complement each wine the Masters have chosen. Each Stroll stop presents a different selection of wines and delicious culinary morsels, allowing patrons to acquaint themselves with the variety of enchanting establishments that Steamboat has to offer.

Please Note: Although the downtown area is open to the public during this event, we highly recommend not bringing children or pets with you. Only ticketed patrons will be allowed into a majority of the Stroll venues. Purchase tickets in advance, as prices will increase by $15 on the day of the event, if still available.

Join us for an invigorating outdoor yoga practice at the beautiful base of the Steamboat Ski area. Yoga will be lead by Michele Meyer, certified yoga instructor and personal trainer. A vinyasa style or flow-yoga will get your heart pumping and muscles lengthened while you enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. All levels are welcome, no previous yoga experience necessary. From Field to the Five Senses

The philosophy of Truett Hurst wineries is to produce wines and packaging that appeal to the reasons people buy wine. As winemaker of such a lofty goal, Virgina Marie Lambrix (Ginny) is a pro at finding sources for wines at a varied price range. She creates friendly priced wines as well as ultra-premium wines of place from the Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys, where you will find VML & Truett Hurst wineries. Recently introduced was the first occasion-specific wrapped bottles – a square wine bottle and the first paper wine bottle (“Paperboy”) in 2013. Ginny is expert in sourcing the right wine for the targeted palate – a trend that winemakers may follow in the future. In this seminar you will taste from VML & Truett Hurst’s ultra-premium wines to the Paperboy. Creative Director Kevin Shaw will also be adding a different dimension, as he and Ginny discuss the creative process and targeted market for the special packaging wines such as Paper Boy, Square & the Wrapped bottles. This unique seminar is extremely interesting from a sensory to a visual point-of-view, as you taste the wines and learn about the creative genius behind it all.

It's a Mimosa Morning

End your weekend properly and start your morning off right with this relaxing hike and brunch. Led by local outdoor enthusiast and photographer Andy Kennedy, this gloriously scenic route begins with a quick ride on the Steamboat Gondola and follows one of many beautiful trails in Steamboat. Be sure to bring your camera, as Andy will guide you along aspen groves and rocky outcrops, stopping along the way with photograph suggestions and sharing in local lore. Following the hike, relax and unwind on the beautiful deck at Thunderhead Lodge while enjoying a delicious brunch and mimosas – a wonderful way to end the your stay in Steamboat.

Please allow up to 3 hours for the hike and brunch. Hikers will meet at the Information Center on Gondola Square at 9:30am, and then it’s time to hit the trails.
