AVA Kayak Tour Explore the Upper Colorado River in your own inflatable kayak. No experience required. A guide will accompany your group. Tours are offered daily from May 18 through September 30, 2018.
Your laid back trip will include plenty of time to swim, sunbathe, or just relax and enjoy the scenery. Visit historic mining cabins and get your heart racing with a leap from 'Jump Rock' into the river. You'll splash through a few moderate rapids as the river winds through the Gore Range and mountain ranchland. Perfect for families or anyone looking for a leisurely day on the river.
Minimum age for inflatable kayaks is 10 years. Deposit is required. Wear closed toe secure foot ware and weather appropriate clothing. Wetsuits and splash jackets are provided for all guided trips. Kayak Full Day Rental is also available (no guide).
Driving Directions Approximately 1 hour 15 minute drive from Steamboat. Follow US 40 East into Kremmling, Turn right onto 14th Street, Turn left onto Eagle Ave, AVA Outpost is on the left.

Mountain Sports Kayak School Due to high water temperatures and low water flows, the Yampa River is currently closed for commercial use in Steamboat Springs. Mountain Sports Kayak School will bring guests to alternative locations.
Mountain Sports Kayak School provides clinics and lessons daily at 9am and 1pm. May 11 through September 14, 2018. The 'Never Ever' 3 hour program is a great way to experience river kayaking for you and your family on the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs. After learning basic paddle strokes in the ponds it's a float down a gentle stretch of the Yampa River.
Private lessons and 2 person lessons are a great way to work on your skills. The instructor will design the lesson to your ability level. In the spring and early summer, the Guided Tandem Kayak Tour is a great way to experience the river with a skilled guide navigating the kayak 6 miles down the Yampa River.
Kayak and all gear is included with all lessons. All lessons are offered at 9am and 1pm
Mountain Sports Kayak School has a quality selection of whitewater and touring kayaks, stand up paddleboards, lake kayaks, canoes and all other gear needed to get out on the water. Ages 18 and up and 8-17 years old - same pricing for both age groups.

*2018 summer rates. Kayak and Canoe Rentals Enjoy the day on one of Steamboat's nearby lakes. Mountain Sports Kayak School offers an extensive selection of kayaks, inflatable kayaks and canoes for daily rental, 9am - 5pm. Rentals are available May 19 - September 15, 2017. Delivery can be arranged for an additional fee. Lakes near Steamboat include Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, Hahn's Peak Lake, Fetcher Pond and Stagecoach Reservoir.
