Meet an Olympian: Caroline Lalive & Nelson Carmichael
Join us for hot chocolate and Champagne Powder® donuts with a special opportunity to meet Ski Town U.S.A.®'s incredible Olympians Caroline Lalive and Nelson Carmichael at the Olympian display on the second floor of Thunderhead Lodge at the top of the Gondola. The Tread of Pioneers Museum and Steamboat Ski Resort will present a series of chats with Steamboat Olympians throughout the season providing guests a front row seat to meet Olympians, see their medals and learn what it’s like to compete at the elite level.

Nelson Carmichael: Freestyle Moguls
1988 Calgary, Canada. 1992 Albertville, France (bronze medal).
Nelson Carmichael is a two-time Olympian and Colorado’s first Olympic medalist in freestyle moguls. He has won six national titles and 12 World Cups, and he is a two-time overall season-long World Cup Champion and Pro Moguls Champion. He has made numerous appearances in films, magazines, news and television. Carmichael conducts a free moguls clinic at Steamboat on select Sundays throughout the season.

Caroline Lalive Carmichael: Alpine skiing
1998 Nagano, Japan. 2002 Salt Lake City, Utah. 2006 Torino, Italy.
Caroline Lalive Carmichael reached six World Cup podiums, competed in two Olympics, and was named to her third Olympic team in 2006. She first strapped on skis at age 2 in Switzerland before moving to Steamboat in 1995. A 1999 Junior World Champion, she competed in all five Alpine disciplines — downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and combined — something that is nearly unheard of in this age of specialization.
