Gone Cashless
Published June 4, 2025
Steamboat is a cashless payment resort, accepting all major credit cards, Pay With Pass, and Tap To Pay on your phone for all purchases in the base area and on the mountain.
Beginning summer 2025, Steamboat Ski Resort will move to a cashless resort, meaning credit cards, Pay with Pass, and Tap To Pay will be the only payment options for all resort operations including restaurants, food courts, retail outlets, rental stores, and the ticket office. All major credit cards are accepted, as well as Tap To Pay via Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Apple Pay. A Reverse ATM is available for guests to exchange cash into Mastercard debit cards, which can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted, including locations outside of Steamboat Springs. Reverse ATMs are located in Steamboat Square in the breezeway between Timber & Torch and the bathrooms near Steamboat Ski & Sport Sheraton, as well as in the Ticket Office. View Base Area Map.
We recommend guests exchange cash for a debit card prior to loading the gondola, as there are no Reverse ATMs on the mountain.
Guests may continue to offer gratuities to staff via cash, as well as other verified forms of payment including Venmo. Please understand staff may not be able to break large bills for tip purposes.
Why cashless? We have seen a drastic decrease in cash usage since COVID and, after reviewing our resort procedures and processes, learned we can expedite the guest experience, protect our staff, and more efficiently provide great service by moving to credit card and tap-to-pay options. We also recognize cashless operations are becoming increasingly popular in the tourism and hospitality industry, as well as in many other areas where people make purchases.
