Earlier this month, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation (YVCF) awarded $725,979 to 91 nonprofits serving Routt and Moffat counties through its annual competitive grant cycle.

As part of that effort, grants from the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation (SSRC)’s two donor advised funds (DAF) at YVCF provided $100,000 to 48 organizations, supporting work that touches nearly every corner of community life in the Yampa Valley.

This partnership is woven into YVCF's history. SSRC was one of the founding supporters of the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, and for 30+ years has continued that commitment through the Passport Club program, donating 80 ski medallions each winter to help generate funding for grants, scholarships, and community initiatives throughout the region. Since the program began in 1995, SSRC’s DAFs have invested more than $2.8 million in community organizations through YVCF's annual grant cycle.

Behind this year’s awards was a committee of 16 SSRC employees from across the resort who reviewed applications and helped recommend grant recipients. The portfolio of grants reflects the breadth of needs and opportunities across the Yampa Valley. Some organizations are helping families access essential services. Others focus on youth programs, arts and culture, recreation, mental health, wildfire preparedness, and environmental stewardship.

The 2026 cycle awarded funding to 18 longtime SSRC grantees as well as four first-time grantees, bringing new organizations into the fold. In total, funding from the SSRC funds increased by $24,000 compared to 2025.

One thing becomes clear when you read through dozens of applications: there are many incredible organizations meeting needs in our community. That's what makes the YVCF grant cycle so valuable. It brings together support from donors across the valley and directs resources to the nonprofits doing the work every day.
SSRC is grateful to YVCF for administering the program and to the organizations working year-round to strengthen the communities we call home.
