Each winter, the WinterWonderGrass Festival brings together world-class bluegrass, mountain adventures, and a community vibe that mirrors the spirit of Ski Town, U.S.A.® Locals and visitors alike gather for a weekend that blends powder turns, outdoor fun, and foot-stomping music—all set against the backdrop of Steamboat’s legendary terrain.

Since first arriving in Steamboat in 2013, WinterWonderGrass has grown into more than just a music festival. A signature part of the experience is the daily complimentary tasting featuring more than 20 Colorado craft breweries, giving smaller producers a chance to share their creations while elevating the guest experience. It’s a uniquely Colorado pairing: great beer, great music, and great snow.

The festival also carries a strong commitment to community and sustainability. Through charitable giving across its events, WinterWonderGrass supports local nonprofits and partners with like-minded organizations that prioritize environmental responsibility and low-waste event practices. It’s all part of an intentional effort to leave a positive impact on the mountain towns that host it.

Between sets, the mountain is calling. Start your day with a few laps on Steamboat’s wide-open terrain, made more accessible than ever by the Wild Blue Gondola, which whisks skiers and riders from base to summit with ease. Intermediate skiers will love cruising off the Sunshine Express Lift, where sunny exposures and playful terrain make for feel-good turns.

Advanced skiers looking to push their limits can explore the gladed, big-mountain terrain off the Mahogany Ridge Express Lift. This area skis with a backcountry feel while remaining in-bounds, offering steep lines and technical features for confident experts. A great way to explore this terrain in a more controlled environment is the Private Guided Experience, allowing you to team up with an instructor and ski patroller to get the most out of your ski adventure.

Newer skiers and riders will find plenty of room to grow as well. Steamboat’s SnowSports School offers progression-focused lessons in a supportive environment, with both group and private options available. Greenhorn Ranch serves as the resort’s dedicated learning zone, giving beginners space to build confidence, dial in skills, and enjoy the mountain at their own pace.

When the ski day winds down, après options are just steps away. Grab a drink or a bite at The Range Food and Drink Hall or Timber and Torch, then head across the street to let the music take over. With multiple stages, diverse food vendors, and an unmistakable bluegrass buzz in the air, WinterWonderGrass seamlessly extends the mountain day into the night.

Whether you’re here for the skiing, the music, the craft beer, or all of the above, WinterWonderGrass adds an unmistakable rhythm to winter in Steamboat—and there’s truly no wrong way to experience it.
