Pride in Every Turn
At Steamboat, we believe what Alterra affirms across its mountains: the mountains are for everyone. Turning that belief into reality takes intention, listening, and action.
In 2024, Steamboat launched the All In Committee to guide its work of fostering a culture of belonging—one where every employee and guest feels seen and valued. Grounded in a mission to build an inclusive culture and a vision to become the most inclusive mountain destination on the planet, the committee brings together voices from across the resort to help guide this work forward.
Its approach is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: inclusion is built together. The committee focuses on elevating diverse perspectives, encouraging ongoing learning, and engaging employees, guests, and the broader community. Its work is shaped in large part by feedback from the annual Belonging and Inclusion Survey, where employees highlight areas for focus and growth.
In recent years, that feedback has highlighted a desire for greater visibility and support for the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
“Leading this work is about building a culture where our people and our guests truly belong. I’m grateful Steamboat prioritizes and supports this effort—helping make the mountains a place where everyone is welcome, which is deeply meaningful to me as a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.”—Katelyn Martinson, Steamboat All-In Committee Lead rich-text, responsive-table

Listening—and Taking Action
In 2026, that input came to life with the return of Steamboat’s Rainbow Run.
Held in March, the run brought together more than 50 employees, along with friends and family, to ski and ride down Rainbow in a visible show of support and solidarity for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Participants represented teams from across the resort—Ambassadors, Ski Patrol, Mountain Safety, HR, Sustainability, Communications, Marketing, Brand & Resort Strategy, and Alterra—reflecting a shared commitment that spans departments and roles.
"The Steamboat Mountain Safety Team and I were thrilled to take part in the Rainbow Run this past winter, and it was a joyous occasion for everybody involved. Our team believes that the mountain is open to all communities, and can be safely enjoyed by everybody, regardless of circumstance. The Rainbow Run was another occasion for Steamboat to showcase its support for diversity on the mountain, and its welcoming attitude to all."—Chia Basinger, Manager of Mountain Safety Team
The afternoon concluded with a gathering at The Range, offering a chance to connect, celebrate, and continue building community beyond the slopes.
“Rainbow Run was such a loud and impactful way for Steamboat to show its commitment to supporting our LGBTQIA2S+ community.”—Abby Railton, Steamboat Content Manager rich-text, responsive-table

Supporting Belonging Beyond the Mountain
Steamboat’s commitment to inclusion extends into the broader Yampa Valley as well. Since 2023, the resort has supported Yampa Valley Pride, an annual celebration organized by Queer Futures. The organization creates safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, those questioning their identities, and their allies—fostering connection, access to resources, and a sense of belonging.Steamboat was a sponsor of the June 2026 Pride event where seven employees also volunteered their time by staffing Steamboat’s booth, engaging with attendees and sharing small but meaningful moments of welcome—from Pride stickers to conversations that help people feel seen. To date, Steamboat has contributed $6,500 in support of the event. rich-text, responsive-table
Moving Forward—Together
The work of the All In Committee reflects a broader commitment across Alterra: prioritizing diverse voices and building belonging. While Pride and Rainbow are an important moments to support the LGBTQIA2S+ community, our inclusion efforts span many communities year-round, as highlighted in our MLK Day reflections.
From the Rainbow Run to community partnerships, this work is ongoing—ensuring the mountains remain a place where everyone belongs. rich-text, responsive-table
